RÉSIDENCE ÉTUDIANTE 2
164 ROOMS AND 200 PARKING PLACES
This plan is part of an overall urban project that completely redefines a former industrial brownfield site situated where the Seine and the Canal Saint-Denis converge. The urban project is developed on a site of about 4ha.
The architectural project includes 164 student rooms and a car park for 200 cars.
Positioned between the Seine and the Canal Saint-Denis, this site has an exceptional location; nevertheless, there are also some constraints linked to the surrounding infrastructure and noise they generate (TGV & RER trains, as well as cars on the Quai de Seine).
The urbanization project therefore uses the site’s existing strengths:
– By creating a connection with the convergence , allowing views of both the Seine and the Canal from the south of the site and building walkways;
– By opening views onto the waterways;
– By adapting the right bank of the Canal Saint-Denis.
The composition of the urban landscape is organized around a large central linear park called the « pleated garden ».
The main features of the project are its repetition of motifs and its mass, aspects of which have been created through the layering and stratification of the façade: it gives the impression of buildings juxtaposed with one another, with the roof as a crowning touch. This is all in keeping with the spirit of the project as a whole.
Refers to the convergence of the Seine and Canal Saint-Denis as in the later article. But they have capitalised Confluence. Maybe ask them if deliberate.
