This project focusses on the rehabilitation and expansion of an existing plant, covering some 1,500 m2 of process buildings and 1,000 m2 of outdoor space. Given the heterogeneity of the existing buildings, the architectural choice was to bring coherence to all the buildings with an overall design that makes the most of the considerable length of the site: around 130 meters long, and 30 meters wide.
In order to echo the client’s industrial activity – the company specializes in thermal spraying of metals – the shell is metallic and perforated.
The architecture is both rigorous and simple. Only the perforation varies. The gaps are strengthened at the openings to let in the light needed for the building’s functions. Where there is no need to let in light, the metal is simply indented and bears traces of the perforation.

Se trata de un proyecto de rehabilitación y ampliación de una fábrica existente de aproximadamente 1500 m2 de edificios y 1000 m2 de espacios exteriores. Dada la heterogeneidad de los edificios, el proyecto arquitectónico consistió en dar coherencia al conjunto mediante una envoltura global, jugando con la geometría alargada de la parcela: aproximadamente 130 metros de largo por 30 metros de ancho.
La cubierta es metálica y perforada haciendo referencia a la actividad que se desarrolla en esta planta industrial, especializada en proyección térmica sobre metal.
Se pensó en un proyecto arquitectónico vigoroso y simple, variando únicamente el tamaño de las perforaciones. El espacio entre las aperturas se estrecha en el centro para disminuir la opacidad y aportar la luz necesaria para el funcionamiento del edificio. Donde la luz es prescindible, el metal está simplemente impreso con la marca de la perforación.
