The project is part of complex building located in the immediate vicinity of the Pompidou Metz center in the so-called Amphitheater area. It has the particulary of associating different owners and architects who have worked together in the form of “workshops” of design. It is a question of designing two parallel collective buildings forming a courtyard, framed on an imposed structure and of building in the center one or more small buildings called free”.
We proposed very quickly to construct these “free” objects in wooden framework because this path is light, it allows a quick and safe assembly, and it is also an economic choice. This also corresponds to the desire to differentiate these objects from the two main buildings.
The two collective buildings are entirely designed in white concrete. The plans of the dwellings are very simple and focused on one idea: to allow an exterior extension for each dwelling, well dimensioned and well oriented. The facades are therefore decomposed at the angles in order to find loggias which allow singular framing on the south and the west. The vertical distributions are exterior and positioned in the north face. All bearings are illuminated naturally. The slab that forms the floor of the buildings is treated by an alternation of mineral and vegetable islets with a central courtyard where the individual lodgings of the center are addressed.

Este proyecto forma parte de un complejo edificio situado cerca del centro Pompidou Metz en el barrio llamado la « ZAC de l’Amphithéâtre ». Tiene la particularidad de asociar a varios clientes y arquitectos que han trabajado juntos siguiendo un modelo de « workshops » de concepcion. Se trata de concebir dos edificios colectivos paralelos formando un patio longitudianl, tramados sobre una estructura impuesta, y de construir en el centro uno o varios edificios pequenos llamados « libres ».
Nuestro equipo propuso rápidamente la construcción de estos objetos «libres» con estructura portante de madera por tratarse de un material ligero ; permite un montaje rápido y seguro ; y es también una elección económica. Asismismo, responde a la voluntad de diferenciar estos objetos de los dos edificios principales.
Los dos edificios colectivos están enteramente concebidos en hormigón blanco visto. Los planos de las viviendas son muy sencillos y articulados en torno a una idea : permitir una prolongación exterior en cada una de las viviendas, bien dimensionada y con buena orientación. Así, los alzados se deconstruyen en los ángulos para crear galerías que permiten encuadres singulares en los frontales Sur y Oeste.
Las distribuiciones verticales son exteriores y se ubican en el frontal Norte. Todos los rellanos cuentan con iluminación natural. La losa que forma el pavimento de los edificios está planteada en alternancia con islotes minerales y vegetales, y con un patio central hacia el que se dirigen las viviendas individuales del centro.
